WOLVES have confirmed the £18million signing of Adama Traore from Middlesbrough.
The former Barcelona and Aston Villa winger has penned a five-year deal with the Molineux club.
Traore , 22, becomes Nuno Espirito’s fifth summer signing afte the arrivals of Rui Patricio, Jonny Castro Otto, Joao Moutinho and Raul Jimenez.
Boro had offered the rapid Spain Under-21 man a new deal in the hope of keeping him at the Riverside.
Traore told Wolves’ official website : “I’m so happy, it’s a great day for me and my family.
“I know the history of Wolves, it’s big and great. If Wolves are in the Premier League it is because they are ready for it.
“I am young and if I add new things and build on what I already have then it will be good for me.
“How Wolves play suits me and before making any decisions I watched the games and know how they play, how the wingers and the strikers play.”
But he was insistent on testing himself in the Premier League, where he played in his first season in England before suffering
relegation with Villa.
Traore was absent from Boro’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United last night and boss Tony Pulis said: “Adama was my best buddy so to lose him is really difficult.
“When I came to the club he looked a little bit sullen and didn’ have any confidence but at the end he played with a smile on his face and excited a lot of people.
“I hope the supporters understand that ambition to get in the Premier League.
“You could say, ‘stay here and get us in the Premier League’ but that’s not the way the world works.
“We did offer Adama a contract, a very good contract, but he wants to stretch himself.”
