Manchester United ‘open negotiations’ with Chelsea over shock move for Kurt Zouma as Jose Mourinho’s search for a defender continues

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly opened negotiations with Chelsea to sign Kurt Zouma.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to get another central defender on board at Old Trafford before the transfer window slams shut at
5pm on Thursday.

And L’Equipe have claimed tonight the search for reinforcements has led Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge.

Everton are also keen on trying to sign the France international.

However, the Toffees have only offered to take the 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Stoke.

But United want the deal to be a permanent one and that could propel them in to the driving seat for Zouma.

Chelsea are now debating whether to sell one of their players to a direct Premier League title rival.

Mourinho knows the central defender well from his time at Stamford Bridge and has apparently turned to him as an alternative to Jerome Boateng.

The Bayern Munich star is believed to have snubbed a move to United while United are determined not to pay over the odds
for Spurs’ unsettled Belgian ace Toby Alderweireld.

Leicester have rejected two bids from the Red Devils for England star Harry Maguire – although the centre-half is desperate to join Mourinho’s side .
